Victron 75/15 MPPT:
The new MPPT controllers from Victron represent one of the best values in a small MPPT controller. Unlike other controllers in this amperage range, 5A to 15A, the Victron 75/15 is fully programmable without a $50.00 custom programming fee like other small MPPT controllers. It also features a fast MPPT algorithm especially when compared to the cheap Chinese products that use a perturb and observe algorithm (P&O = pause charging>measure maximum power point voltage>return to charging).
In order to program the Victron MPPT controller you either need a computer, VE Direct software and a VE Direct cable or the Victron Bluetooth Dongle plus the app on your phone or tablet. These cable/dongle products cost extra so I ship these controller custom programmed for your batteries at no extra charge.

The 75/15 is capable of 75V on the input and up to 15A of output to the battery bank. This means a single 75/15 MPPT controller can handle a 220W array.

Especially in case of a clouded sky, when light intensity is changing continuously, an ultra-fast MPPT
controller will improve energy harvest by up to 30% compared to PWM charge controllers and by up to 10%
compared to slower MPPT controllers.
Load Output: (generally not used on boats)
Over-discharge of the battery can be prevented by connecting all loads to the load output. The load output will disconnect the load when the battery has been discharged to a pre-set voltage.The load output is short circuit proof. On boats the DC loads should be connected directly to the battery.
Battery Life Management: (Load Output)
When a solar charge controller is not able to recharge the battery to its full capacity within one day, very often the case, the result is that the battery will continually be cycled between a ‘partially charged’ state and the ‘end of discharge’ state. This mode of operation, no regular full recharge, is called PSOC cycling and can destroy a lead-acid battery within weeks or months.
The Victron Battery Life Algorithm will monitor the state of charge of the battery and, if needed, day by day slightly increase the load disconnect level (i.e. disconnect the load earlier) until the harvested solar energy is sufficient to recharge the battery to nearly the full 100%. From that point onwards the load disconnect level will be modulated so that a nearly 100% recharge is achieved about once every week. The load output is only suitable for boats with minor DC loads.
Programmable Battery Charge Algorithm:
Absorption voltage, float voltage etc. can all be customized to suit your battery bank. Programming, real-time data and history display options are all available with the Bluetooth Dongle and can be viewed on Apple or Android devices or by using the Victron Color Control Panel.
